After a massive meal of Italian pizza, I didn't feel sated enough and the numerous gelati stores beckoned to us. Walking in piazza navona, the location of a gorgeous fountain, we spotted a gelateria and like bears to honey, we power walked to the gelateria.
It is a very tiny shops and can barely fit in 5 customers in front of its glass display.
They also do hot chocolate and the hot chocolate is €3 a cup and looks like its made out of melted milk chocolate. Fancy*!*
You can trial flavours before you buy (unlike some rude places in Perth). I tried the dulce De leche which tasted different to any of the dulce de leche flavoured gelato I had tasted in Australia. I ended up getting pistachio and caramello gelati in a cone for only €3. Bargain. One scoop of gelato in Australia costs 5-8 dollars.
The pistachio omg tasted like eating pistachio. So fresh so creamy. Not too sweet like almost all gelati and ice cream in Australia. And it even has nice chunky pistachio nuts in it. And not just one pistachio - a few. Omg the best pistachio gelato ever.
The caramel was underwhelming. Not a strong caramel flavour. My friend was disappointed by her vanilla gelato. She said they didn't seem to use fresh vanilla bean.
I tasted my friends honeydew melon gelato and it tasted refreshing but I like my heavy creamy gelati. The coffee flavoured gelato was amazeballs. Again nothing like I had ever tasted before. It didn't taste milky and had a strong coffee flavour just like how it should be and not taste like diluted down milky iced coffee like it does down under.
When you ask an Italian where they recommend to go for gelato, they say go anywhere it's all good. I'm beginning to believe it.
Plus point - the gelato scooper was pretty cute but no space to hang around in the shop. Sigh*** -

A lovely ending to a packed day. Pretty basic flavors, but delicious all the same. And on top of that- an amazing location!

We had 4 different flavors and they were all less than mediocre. It's only redeeming quality was that it was in the Piazza Navona which is gorgeous.
